I originally purchased this title because the home-video release included 4K and 3D discs--a must-have for me. However, this review is NOT for the 4K or 3D format release, JUST for the Bluray release. Overall, I was disappointed by the subject matter and overall length of this documentary. Although this film is about 45 minutes long (the typical runtime of IMAX documentaries), I found myself wishing it was even shorter. The film failed to capture my attention, and was certainly boring in many places. It attempted to deliver excitement by showing the human drama of engineering, but instead jumped from topic to topic too quickly for me to get personally invested. The constant switches from first-person to third-person narration frustrated me, especially as the sound level between the two were different (I had to keep changing the volume). Also, many of the live-action shots were clearly staged, showing the same two people fake-talking and smiling instead of actually doing their real engineering jobs. I was also let down by the bonus features on the disc. Although there are several special features, almost all of them simply used clips from the movie with voice-over. There was no behind-the-scenes featurette, and I didn't even see the need for one, as the film was clearly made by amateurs. This film does not deserve the robust Bluray release it has received; I would recommend watching something else instead, like Mysteries of China. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ This is meant to give students / kids a look at what engineering can do for the planet *by D***D on Reviewed in the United States on July 31, 2020* At a time when we all need to work together to improve the quality of life for everyone on the planet, this movie speaks to the imagination of our youth to think about ways to make positive and beneficial changes. Engineering is not easy, and we need students to know this going in so that they start preparing earlier through their education, life experiences, and the opening of their eyes and minds to all the "engineering" that surrounds them.By showing them that not all areas have the same resources, and that creativity and perseverance is required, and in many cases, creating something out of nothing, this movie provides that imagination and determination.I recommend this movie for kids of all ages. Be sure to ask the kids afterwards about where they have been that radical engineering has been implemented.A great place to talk about engineering and physics is actually the amusement park, water park, trains, cities. Engineering is everywhere. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Spectacular, inspiring 3D and message *by D***E on Reviewed in the United States on September 11, 2019* When projected in 3D onto a large screen with full surround sound this documentary is spectacular. It's appropriate for all ages, particularly young people. It is inspiring both in the variety of topics presented and the varied 3D awe-inducing scenarios. There's good depth into the screen and appropriate detailed effects out of the screen. Versus the often negative and discouraging news about what humanity is doing collectively to our fragile planet, this documents the opposite: that when we put our fabulous minds to it we can indeed accomplish great things. Science jumps out (mainly through the engineering viewpoint) as a force for positive creativity. This is worth watching many times over and takes an honored place in my extensive 3D blu ray collection as "one of the best"!
