What do you mean by live meat? It is intended to tenderize steaks, chicken, and chops before cooking. It is very well crafted and works extremely well. **Q: Does it really work?** A: Yes. I mostly use it on half frozen roasts that I plan to marinate. Creates deep spaces for marinade. Easy to clean too, if you clean soon after using. It's my favorite tenderizer. Handle carefully. Kids can do more than put an eye out. **Q: is it safe for dishwasher?** A: It is all metal and definitely safe for dishwasher. **Q: Did anyone try to pierce pork skin? Is it sharp enough to make holes on the pork skin?** A: I don't know about actual pig skin, but I have had some roasts that have had a thick layer of tendon that it's a little tough to get through, but if you hit hard enough it will do it. The only real problem I see is that when you do have to go through tendons or thick fat, it gets stuck in the meat and is REALLY difficult getting it out, the blades do not want to slide through anything other than muscle. But since that isn't the norm and this works great with a standard cuts of meat, I wouldn't disregard it because of that. I used to tenderize my meat by hand with a very sharp fine pointed pairing knife...which as you can guess can be quite time consuming, but then I found this and I'm happy with it. So bottom line, when it works, it works great...and cleans very easily. It works well and is well constructed. There are no cracks and crevices for meat or juices to be trapped like in some of the other styles.. It still takes time to clean properly but much, much easier than other styles. I use a large bottle brush and is seems to do the job well. Highly recommend it over others, especially for chicken. .Sanitation of any tool used with meat is my top priority.
