This is the project of dystopian fiction: to shine a light in tyranny's greasiest corners and show how people - ordinary, determined human beings - might take it apart ” - New York Times β€œ Collins is an excellent writer, and there are moments of surprising lyricism ... Sunrise on the Reaping contains enough both to snare new readers and to satisfy the most bloodthirsty fan ” - Guardian β€œ A brutal, tender tale that adds depth to the franchise, weaving pertinent themes of misinformation and propaganda around the thrills and action. ” - The Observer When you've been set up to lose everything you love, what is there left to fight for? As the day dawns on the fiftieth annual Hunger Games, fear grips the districts of Panem. This year, in honour of the Quarter Quell, twice as many tributes will be taken from their homes. Back in District 12, Haymitch Abernathy is trying not to think too hard about his chances. All he cares about is making it through the day and being with the girl he loves. When Haymitch's name is called, he can feel all his dreams break. He's torn from his family and his love, shuttled to the Capitol with the three other District 12 tributes: a young friend who's nearly a sister to him, a compulsive oddsmaker, and the most stuck-up girl in town. As the Games begin, Haymitch understands he's been set up to fail. But there's something in him that wants to fight . . . and have that fight reverberate far beyond the deadly arena. Four books, five films and one worldwide phenomenon, The Hunger Games original trilogy changed the face of global YA and The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes was an instant number one bestseller (Nielsen Bookscan, May 2020). All four of the Hunger Games novels have been made into major feature films, starring Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Rachel Zegler, Tom Blyth and Peter Dinklage. A feature film for Sunrise On the Reaping - the fifth book in the Hunger Games series - is slated for November 2026 OTHER BOOKS IN THE SERIES The Hunger Games The Hunger Games illustrated edition released in October 2024 Catching Fire Mockingjay The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes Review: Good to read - Nice Review: Quality wasn't compromised because of the price - It came out in perfect quality ## Features - New Store Stock ## Technical Specifications | Specification | Value | |---------------|-------| | Best Sellers Rank | #436,834 in Books ( See Top 100 in Books ) #67 in Politics & Government for Young Adults #73 in Military History for Young Adults #116 in Children's Action & Adventure | | Customer Reviews | 4.7 out of 5 stars 102,629 Reviews | ## Images ![Sunrise on the Reaping (A Hunger Games Novel) (The Hunger Games) - Image 1](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/71mC7kMhg6L.jpg) ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Good to read *by S***T on 18 September 2026* Nice ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Quality wasn't compromised because of the price *by M***I on 6 October 2026* It came out in perfect quality ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Heart Wrenching Expansion & Background To Haymitch's Hunger Games *by K***P on 8 April 2025* Book Review: Knowing how this story ends even before you start makes each line hit harder. It's hard to hold on to hope when you've prepared yourself for devestation. But this book showcases how even at the bleakest moments, perceptive have the ability to change. Bonds can be forged. Hope can ignite itself. Survival makes you hunger for more. While I enjoyed reading this, there were times I struggled with how repetitive some instances felt, especially when the world wasn't too different from what we encounter in Katniss' arc, unlike the stark difference in Snow's story. Even with the Easter eggs of characters and moments, I craved for more diversity to Haymitch and Katniss' situations. Somethings took getting used to because of this, but the actual time in the arena was terrifying and stressful. While some moments can feel similar, it's the horror of being in that situation that truly grips you. As much as I was prepared for a gut-wrenching sensation with each page, it still hurt watching events unfold. But like waiting for the sunrise after an eternity of darkness, it reinforced the feeling of fighting for change. And knowing that one day, freedom will be reclaimed. Amazon Delivery: Terrible delivery - the agent didn't even call when when they came and just threw it over my gate onto the wet floor. The package was torn and there were some tears to the cover. ## Frequently Bought Together - Sunrise on the Reaping (A Hunger Games Novel) (The Hunger Games) - The Hunger Games 4-Book Paperback Box Set: TikTok made me buy it!
