I do however muddle a cherry and sometimes a small slice of orange with mine but neither are really needed. **Q: Using a double jigger (2oz & 1oz), if I add 2oz of bourbon how much syrup should I add?** A: The bottle suggests a 5 to 1 ratio. 50 ml of bourbon to 10 ml syrup. I just made my first drink with 4 oz bourbon and 1 oz syrup. Not bad, but just a touch on the sweet side. **Q: How long is shelf life once opened?** A: Just keep the lid on tight. Mine doesn’t last too long. Lol. **Q: Can I get away with storing this outside the refrigerator?** A: I don’t think so. It says on the bottle to refrigerate after opening. Would probably turn to sugar without refrigeration anyway. Love this product. Best at home old fashioned. Better than most bartenders do. Just make you follow the 5 to 1 recipe. Miraculously, no liquid was spilled so it was still useable.
