It was cyclical, so basically, I'd get better in the warm months and sick again in winter. I finally decided after getting my degree and getting some unexpected money, to just drop my gym membership and clubs, and to just focus on staying home and babying my body. (I tend to like to exercise hard and to work long hours.) The complete change in lifestyle enabled me over the past year and a half at home to finally get past daily prescriptions and relapses. The downside? I am fat now! I gained 16 pounds!So, I figured I would test the waters slowly to avoid any relapses. Rael's System 7 DVD is incredible for easing you into exercise again after a very long hiatus. My body still feels much too thick for me, but I've already worn off 5 lbs (yes, it took me 3 weeks lol) by doing System 7 twice a day and taking a 50 minute walk 3x a week.I am sensitive about men touching women, but I do not find Rael touches Kristi too much. I often look to see where he is gesturing on her body so I know where to focus. When I was in school, I took a pilates class, and the instructor touched a lot of students (to indicate which muscle groups need to be used) as much or more than Rael touches. My female instructor had 100% pure intentions, and, despite Rael being male, I feel his intentions are to demonstrate everything for the beginner. I get no creepy vibes from Rael (and I pick up on that kind of thing which has saved me many issues in life).I know how easy Pilates was when I took it in school, and feeling how difficult this System 7 DVD is for me now, I know my body has a lot of toning up to do. Rael warns you of the exercises which might affect a bad back. In addition, the pace is still slow enough on the System 7 that I am able to feel if I'm straining any muscles and shift my movements correspondingly. This is the perfect level for rehabilitation and for beginners. I have not yet changed my System 7 movements to the more advanced poses.Rael not only offers 3 levels of Pilates with each level showing easy and more difficult versions of each exercise, he also relaxes you. His voice is very calming and positive. He literally, puts me in a better mood while exercising. He reminds you that you do Pilates not to torture yourself, but to look and, most importantly, feel good! His values are in the right place. Having been so out of practice, I also deeply appreciate Rael's reminding me of when to inhale and exhale. This helps me to follow the rhythm of the exercise.I find the System 7 to be transformational to my body and uplifting for my mind. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 4.0 out of 5 stars Rael Pilates 3 Pack DVD *by M***A on Reviewed in the United States on April 27, 2010* I was quite looking forward to this DVD series after reading Rael Pilates book which is a fantastic Pilates book with good explanations and examples. However, this DVD series were disappointing. The system 7 is only 7 exercises, it flows beautifully but too short and not worth it. The system 17 is the same 7 exercises as in the 7 with a few more 'difficult' variations, which is an improvement. However the best of the series is system 27 which feels like a more compressive work. Overall, the best about this set or Rael's 'workouts' are the flow and transitions between the exercises. In that respect I didn't get disappointed.  Rael Pilates 3 Pack ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5.0 out of 5 stars EXCELLENT! *by D***H on Reviewed in the United States on November 9, 2007* This set of 3 Pilates dvd's is the 3rd I've tried, the other 2 being Winsor Pilates and Classical Pilates with Consideration of the Neck and Back.Mari Winsor is perky and friendly and her workout really is OK. But I borrowed her dvd from a friend, gave it back, and did some research on Pilates and Pilates dvd's.That led me to the Classical dvd and to Rael's set of 3 dvd's.The instruction on the Classical dvd was poor. Having back problems, I tried to stick with it a few times, thinking it would be the best way to get my back in shape again, but gave it up in frustration and turned to Rael.What a difference! Rael is thorough, knowledgeable, and an excellent teacher (he's been a Pilates Master for over 25 years and is known as "teacher of teachers"). His workout goes at a natural pace, his style is relaxing yet professional, and his dvd is very well done. He explains everything, reminds us when to inhale and when to exhale (basic stuff in Pilates, but unnatural to the beginner) and goes through the movements in a way that sets the foundation first, building upon it with each successive movement.
