**Q: What i think i am seeing in the picture is two different converters.  is one a straight through gender changer & the other a null modem configuration?**
A: Both of them are standard null modem adapters

**Q: Will these pass sound so that I may plug in my Bose speakers?**
A: not sure your application, this is an RS232 signal swap adapter.
Here is pinout: pin-1 goes to pin-4, 
pin-2 to pin-3, 
pin-5 to pin-5, 
pin-7 to pin-8, and 
pins-6&9 are not connected.

**Q: do I have to use two connectors on each cable?**
A: No on one on each cable

**Q: Hi, are both of these the exact same? If not what is the difference?**
A: I ordered a 2 pack for work and they are the same.
