Bought it to act as an access point over a 1.5 acre plot and I'm getting a good signal across the whole area despite the line of sight being blocked by trees. The design is very inconspicuous and blends reasonably well in to the building I've got it attached to.The device comes pre configured to be used as a bridge with another identical device. If you're using it this way the setup is relatively simple. Hold a button down on both devices at the same time and the link is established automatically. If you want to use it as an access point or anything more complicated you will need to access the UI. The instructions are hopeless and there's no technical guidance/support on how to access it or set it up so you will need some networking knowledge. Getting in to the UI the first time is not straightforward but once you're in it's easy to use if you know what you're doing.It comes pre-set with a static IP of 192.168.188.253. Chances are your DHCP server (router) won't want to allocate it that IP and it won't have allocated your PC an IP in the same range. So you won't be able to connect to it. You may need to temporarily change your DHCP server's address pool to 192.168.188.xxx and you will need to give your PC a static IP of 192.168.188.xxx. After doing this you should be able to access the UI by pointing your browser at 192.168.188.253. The first thing you'll want to do once in there is to remove the static IP and set it to obtain an address from the DHCP server. This will enable you go revert your PC and DHCP server settings to normal and access the UI through the allocated address.If the above made no sense to you this is not the device for you! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 4.0 out of 5 stars Works well but dangerously insecure out of the box *by H***G on Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 29 August 2019* tl;dr I would not recommend buying unless you have at least some understanding of how to secure an unsecured wifi network, or have access to someone who does. If you don't have any idea what that means, these are not for you. If you are or do, they're great!What's good:- works really well for what I need.- I'm getting a good, stable 50Mbps between these devices 50m apart, without spending much time to get them accurately aligned and with some thick bushes obscuring the line of sight for the point to point link.- came with FOUR PoE injectors! Yay! I needed some of these for something else, so saved me a purchase!What's bad:- instruction leaflet bears little relation to the devices supplied.- telnet server is enabled by default!!!!- Point to Point data link is not encrypted/password protected by default- admin password is "admin" by default- broadcasts a wifi SSID by default with very poor default password- wifi cannot be switched off without also switching off the Point to Point link (? Or at least that's what it looked like - in the event, I just gave it a really long password and stopped it broadcasting SSID)All the good points are good, and the bad points can be corrected by anyone able to configure an AP - the web interface is perfectly ok for the job and required fewer restarts than I was expecting. I'm really pleased with them. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5.0 out of 5 stars The external wifi transmitter we dream of at a price that's right! *by L***P on Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 18 May 2019* These KuWFIs are wayyyy better than TP-Link for signal range and quality! We did a back to back test with this one and a TP-Link EAP-225-outdoor which is an omni-directional wifi device, and even with this KuWFI being directional, it produced a stronger stable signal all the way around the house even though it was mounted on the chimney facing away from the house. It has been up there through sun, wind and rain, and has held up to our great british weather exceptionally well.Features wise you can create multiple SSIDs, hide them via disabling ID broadcasting, also the device supports User Isolation where you can prevent the wifi devices from seeing each other when connected to KuWFI, a good feature for when you set up a guest wifi for visitors.Very happy with the purchase.My only wish is that I hope they add lightening surge protection to a future model. At the moment I used a cat6a surge adapter inline from the KuWFI to the house router.My second wish is that I hope they do one with WIFI6 support at a great affordable price for us early adopters.Edit:Just to let all know, you can actually use 802 AT POE on this device using an inline adapter which converts to passive which actually powers the KuWFi via the ethernet connection, just get one of these from Amazon: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01N0W5UL1Good thing is that this inline adapter also has lightening protection, so then you get to not only power the device using just one cable from PoE switch/router, but also get surge protection thrown in too. Job is done. Sure it ups the cost a little, but surge protection is frankly worth it alone.I've had this running from a Juniper, Cisco, Brocade and a D-Link, so the above inline adapter appears to work with all types of PoE switches from consumer to enterprise.
