It is sturdy. I've had it for a good while now and it's still holding up beautifully. The lining on the inside is a little frayed now and the leather that keeps the top closed is starting to wear down now, but that's easy to replace. This bag has been dragged, rained on, had food and juice spilled on it, been roughed up, run over, and generally abused and it's still just as gorgeous as it was when I first got it. Plus the straps are comfy. I carry around my phone, kindle, wallet, TN, planner, snacks, pens and pencils, highlighters, and sometimes an a5 binder, so you can get a good idea of the daily weight I have to carry, and it holds it well.
