I have systemic yeast, and sugar makes those conditions worse. Since I have switched over to xylitol, I have felt a lot better. The flavor is the most similar to sugar out of any of the other options out there (I have tried them all). The big advantages of xylitol are that it measures cup for cup the same as sugar, and does not have that awful, sour and acidic after taste that sugar leaves. I will only use USA birch, non GMO xylitol. I have ordered it by the 5lb and 10lb bags for well over a year. My kids like it as well. They use it instead of sugar on their cereal, oatmeal, etc... We have even used to it make lemonade, salsa, and sorbet. When I can switch out the sugar to xylitol, I do. It does not raise blood sugars, and it is actually good for you. It is antimicrobial in your mouth and body. I wonder if the complaints registered by other purchasers was due to the product being mislabeled. Comparing these granules to table sugar makes it obvious that the two are not the same.I am using xylitol for health reasons. As xylitol goes, this is a very good product, but xylitol itself is not without its downside. It sometimes causes loose stools, but I've found that my body is more used to it than when I first started using it to replace sugar. ### ⭐⭐⭐ 3.0 out of 5 stars This is more expensive per serving than the individual packets of xylitol that I buy at the grocery store. *by D***R on Reviewed in the United States on March 21, 2015* Needs 6 grams of this to sweeten my coffee/tea but only 1.5 grams in the packets (of a different brand of Xylitol made from corn). After figuring the costs per serving, the $2.20 for 50 packets is actually cheaper than buying the 5-pound bag of this because I have to use so much more of this. I won't buy again. UPDATE: A fellow reviewer just asked me about the 1.5-gram packets. After looking, they are not 100% xylitol, but rather they are blend with xylitol first in the ingredient list, followed by dextrose with maltodextrin and sucralose. Normally I can't stand sucralose because of the aftertaste it gives (and stevia is the worst!), but these packets don't give off any aftertaste at all, so it must be a fairly small amount.
