I am no turtle expert, but these seem to to provide complete nutrition for ours. We only rarely need to provide alternates. These floating sticks are a good size. We have one tiny turtle (shell slightly larger than a golf ball), one medium-sized, and two larger turtles (shell more like a volley ball), and we have no problem feeding all three with this sticks just as they are. As long as we don't over-feed the turtles, these sticks don't make a big mess of the tank. This container (5.5 lbs) is no joke. It is absolutely huge. If you have enough turtles to feed, as we do, this can an economical way to feed them -- that is, if you get it at a good price (the price seems to vary rather dramatically from time to time). It was less than $100 when we ordered, which made it a good value per pound. And, as a side note, our cats strangely (at least it seems strange to me) love these as well.
