I usually add simple proteins like eggs(hard boiled to soft boiled), shrimp(added at the end since they only need 3-5 minutes to cook), canned or frozen chicken, spam, Chinese sausage (Chinese sausage are tasty slightly sweet and they're cheap at $1-$2/pack(with about a dozen sausages) at an asian grocery and they're already cooked so it's easy just to slice them into thin slices & add them in). I also add any sort of in season veggies like cauliflower, radish, cabbage, broccoli, asparagus, string beans, carrots, spinach, mushrooms, etc. Softer veggies (like spinach & mushrooms) like shrimp should be added near the end of cooking.
