## Description

Whole Health Made Right; #1 Ingredient is Deboned Meat Protein; Grain-Free Food

Review: I have two diabetic cats and needed a grain free food to feed them. What I like best about all of Merrick's Purrfect Bistro Pates is that they mix well with water. I find that cats would rather lick up their food then bite into it, especially if it is cold. I mix warm water into the food and mash it up until it is a liquidy paste. All cats, not just diabetic ones, need a good amount of water into their diet so mixing into the pate food has worked great for me and this Merrick pate food mixes really well. Some foods will just gunk up and not blend with the water, too much fat in it perhaps but not this food. Mixes into a nice slurry that my cats clean right up. I have had my cats on this food for many years and their diabetes has been well managed on it. I also give them PureBites for a healthy snack and Stewart Fiber Treats as one cat has had anal gland issues (not related to this food, she is just old). Merrick makes a good product, their dry food is great too.
Review: Product is used for four cats ranging from upper middle age down to about a one year old. Three male black cats and one multi-colored female sister to the big black! My cats over about eight years have been fed only Merrick Brand; this after checking with the local pet store that I use here and in my last Home area. They rated Merrick at/near the top of a five-brand list. I know the Merrick Brand is expensive and now more-so at the end of 2019. I wish "someone" could really tell me how good it is. I know that all their coats gleem and they run and play more than past cats of mine. They have Nature to look at from the inside with massive full-height windows in most areas. We have deer/fox/raccoon/ hawks/buzzards/crows/you-name-it to occupy when required. All my cats know what days they get the Pate; they love to hear the pop of the lid and all but one, eats the pate far to fast! Can't say whether another Brand would satisfy them, but they truly love the Merrick Brand there is no doubt!

## Questions & Answers

**Q: I noticed the last few times I bought this cat food from Amazon, the quality doesn't seem to be as good as the canthi buy from my local mom-and-pop?**
A: That is entirely possible, but probably not through any fault of Amazon. I've had similar experiences with different varieties of the Merrick Purrfect Bistro Grain Free canned cat foods over the years. I've fed two indoor 13 year old cats this brand of cat food for well over the last five years. During that time, I've purchased Merrick from the local store as well as online from the stores online service. I've encountered "bad" food (both cats refused to eat it and one of them repeatedly threw it up) from both these sources and had to return and exchange it. What I was told at the local store is that sometimes the manufacturing plant will tweak or change the formulation and that causes the cats to not eat it. I believe I have read that there are multiple manufacturing plants across the country, so the food you purchase from different sources may not always come from the same plant and may be slightly different from batch to batch. I had been purchasing all of my Merrick food from Amazon for the last 8 months or so until I received a "bad" case of the Merrick Turkey Pate. Both of my older cats refuse to eat it and a newly adopted and fully vetted 1 year old stray that eats everything also refused to eat it. As one of my older cats was losing weight from refusing to eat any of the Merrick varieties I've had to switch them entirely from the Merrick brand over to Wellness. It costs more, but at least the cats are eating and it's cheaper than vet visits.

**Q: why are there cranberries in this???**
A: I have no idea.

I'm always willing to guess though: I have had several male cats and sometimes they had urinary infections. I know that cranberries do something that keep unirnary infection bacteria from being able to adhere to the wall of the bladder. Maybe???? My cat loves this, and he seems to be happy and healthy, so I'm not worried.

**Q: Are ANY of the ingredients from China? their dog food says "no ingredients from china" but the cat food doesn't say that...anyone know for sure?**
A: Their website states NO ingredients from China in any of their food.

**Q: What is the percentage of protein in this food? Some reviewers say "high," one says "low." Don't see breakdown in description.. Aiming for 7.5%+**
A: Here is the full (current as of 5/17/2017, subject to change) guaranteed analysis of the food:Crude Protein (Min.)	10.00%Crude Fat (Min.)	5.00%Crude Fiber (Max.)	1.00%Moisture (Max.)	78.00%Ash (Max.)	2.10%Taurine (Min.)	.08%

All of the cans were totally dried out and my cat won't even take a bite. Seems like it's only the 3oz turkey that has this issue. The 5.5oz turkey and other 3oz flavors seem to be fine.
