It seems to be difficult to find both features in any current model. This model has higher wattage but blows straight upward through a central vent. Despite that, many people report that it works fairly well as a roaster. Myself, I have a 1200 watt model with circular vents. I have had fantastic results with it. Don't listen to people who say you can't get good results unless you have 1350 watts or more - it's not true. I never roast darker than full city. If you like a really dark roast with oils coming to the surface then a lower wattage model might struggle with that and this model might be better for you. For most everyone else I would really recommend a circular popper for better results. **Q: Is it BPA free** A: I'm not sure about the plastic chute, but the inside of the container is metal. This is where the heating occurs and popcorn is placed. I'm assuming that the only area that is plastic and may contain BPA is the plastic top, but the popcorn only touches it for a brief second as it descends the chute into your bowl. I'm sure there is very little exposure to BPA if the plastic even contains it. Works great. Pour in the butter/scoop full as instructed then turn the machine on. Pops popcorn and there are maybe a dozen un-popped kernels at most. I’ve only had 2 un-popped kernels come out of the machine and into the bowl in the 2 full batches I’ve made. No burnt popcorn, pops popcorn in a few minutes, doesn't require oil, easy to clean, compact size, is loads of fun to watch! I highly recommend.
