We give a lot of stone massages at our practice so we decided to buy a Zenstone and compare it to the waterless units we bought from royal massage and therapist’s choice to get a definitive answer on what is worth our money. The Zenstone kit is BY FAR the best. First, the stones are beautiful. They heat up much faster than the rest because the plates heat up hotter – the other two take at least a third longer and tend to heat through the outer casing. Second, the stones keep their heat longer – it seems like this company really did their research to figure out what material of stone works best. Third, it is so much higher quality in general than the other two – the others appear cheap and poorly made. I’m not surprised people have had problems with them. We’ve decided to return the other two and get a Zenstone kit for each member of our staff. In all it’s a really nice looking unit. Perfect amount of stones for a treatment and you can’t beat how quick these heat. Looks like the company is adding a stand-alone set of stones soon, so we can give multiple treatments with each unit. I've been doing massage for 27 years and am now partly retired only going to a few clients homes. I decided to surprise them with the stones. They are easy to transport and set up. The stones get hot fairly quickly and reheat fast. They feel really good in my hands as well since I have developed arthritis myself. My only negatives are that I would have preferred to have all larger stones and not the six smaller ones. The lid needs more spring action and is a bit hard to open and you need to put the kit on something that stops it from sliding. I got it as an extra to have on hand since my regular brand is currently out of stock. Its a cute design, feels like it may be cheaply made. It's very lightweight, which could be a good thing, only time will tell, but it doesn't feel very sturdy or well built and is more pricey than my regular style. Other reviews stated that the stones were rough, not smooth, but I did not find that to be true with my set. I've washed the stones and oiled them up a little and they seem to be good.
