I installed it on my bike because I got tired of the verbal “On Your Left” method to warn people on the trail of an approaching bike from behind. The trails I ride are public and therefore shared and can get busy with a mix of cyclists, runners and pedestrians. The loudness is such that it’s probably best to “ding” closer rather than from a distance because it can be hard for people to tell where or what bike that “ding” is coming from.This bell has by no means the loudness of a church bell and may or may not be enough for downtown rush-hour commute. But it’s definitely loud enough for bike paths and trails.
