My backpacking days are over but I still participate in many events and activities outdoors. I've looked for a flattering fit and waterproof piece for years. Having worked in the outdoor industry, sometimes it's hard to find pieces that both, do the job and are flattering.It's lightweight (no zippers, a little velcro, only snaps), seam sealed. Nice hood. I'm hoping that the DWR holds up well. I've had many pieces over the years where the DWR wears off very quickly, and getting the aftermarket product to really work is futile, leading to condensation and being nearly as wet as a non-waterproof piece. We'll see.Looking at a forecast of rain for the next 10 days. I'm going to put this new Sierra Designs jacket to the test.By the way. This is a summer piece. It's more fitted than you might expect. Actually waterproof (we will see how it holds up). They call it a cagoule. And it is down to above knee length. Intended for hiking and backpacking. It is stylish enough to wear in the city. You can wear it in the summer without overheating. It has little vented armpits. And the cuffs have both velcro and elastic in them to keep the rain out. Both lightweight and waterproof. And open at the sides with snaps and velcro. I am so glad I purchased this cagoule for my outdoor adventures!!! There is one pocket in the front with netting.
