One antenna connected would not, most likely, cause any circuit failures. GL.iNet has indicated to me that dissimilar antennas is acceptable. In my case I tried a WiFi yagi on one antenna port (supplied antenna on the other) but it did not improve signal strength to my internet source in my particular situation.
