I have fine hair, somewhere between chin and shoulder length but enough to pull back in a small ponytail or clip. Watching a couple Youtube videos was really helpful in figuring out how to insert the hair fork and then flip it to create tension and poke it through the rest of the way. It totally works and stays in my slippery hair all day. I even fell asleep with it in wet hair after a shower and was surprised that it stayed in all night. I reach for it more often than ponytail holders or clips. The pattern of the onyx pin is beautiful and the pin itself is really well made. It flexes in my hair and doesn't create any lines in my hair or pressure points on my scalp like a ponytail holder or clip would, but it's able to create tight enough tension to stay put.
