I needed to replace the tailpipe under my bathroom sink. My attic HVAV condensate drains into my bathroom drain hence the side inlet. It has fine threads and completely and properly screwed into to the drain above after 5 turns (Moen brand). I used two turns of Teflon tape on the threads.
