## Questions & Answers

**Q: are these steel shank boots? I need boots for climbing step up a utility pole. I need the support at the bridge of the heel where I will stand hrs.**
A: To my knowledge the only steel protected areas on these is the toe and the bridge. These is no protection in the bottom of the boot that I am aware of. The sole has air pockets built in for comfort but once punctured are worthless.

**Q: I’m a 8.5 wide. What’s size should I buy ?**
A: I'm a 10.5 Wide, but in UK sizes I order a 10 which is an 11. And they fit perfect. DOC's are already wide, just the nature of the round toe. So if I'm buying a US sized shoe in their standard I always bump up half inch just to give my toes some room. So if you are a true 8.5 wide, a 9 should be good. In UK sizes an 8 is our 9, Perfect!

**Q: Are these ansi rated ?**
A: Yes

**Q: Do these meet astm F-2412-05 & F-2413-05? And does the metatarsal guard have a 75 lbs rating?**
A: Sorry, Michael, but I don't have the answer to that question. I bought these for my son and he loves them. I'll try to remember to ask him and get back with you.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ The best boot I've seen yet, 16 months of straight abuse. Will buy again
*by R***N on June 11, 2014*

Broke in very quickly for me. Comfiest boots I've owned. Sole is very grippy off the start. I love the way these boots look.Update: photo attached after 16 months of use pretty much everyday since I work a lotI must say I loved these boots right until the end, the only reason I had to quit wearing them is the sole split this month to the point where they flapped open. the people that say that the internal met guard is unbearable needs to realize that they too break in. To me the internal met guard was amazing in the fact that they really did protect but also gave me enough movement for construction in home building, and also aided in a good fitting boot that doesn't get too loose and keeps your foot in place nice and snug forever where as normal boots pack out. I really put these to the test and literally wore them just about all day everyday for over a year, even thru a Canadian winter in -40 with the right pair of socks. The stitching held up amazing that is usually what falls apart for me with any other boots. The comfort was there until the last day. Still have the original laces in them which I have never seen before with another boot since I am hard on them trekking through mud and snow and everything else. I will be buying another set. The only downfall I had of these boots is that due to where I live in winter the PVC soles turned into hard plastic and my soles cracked right thru, they were also very slippery due to getting to hard in the cold. Very dangerous at times in that respect due to my trade. I hope dr martens can make this model with rubber soles for us Canadians lol. But these boots lasted me from May 2014 all the way until the end of July of 2015, where as any other boot I have bought has worn out within a few months. And I was not in anyway taking extra care of them. I never cleaned them once only treated them when I first got them

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Typical Dr. Martens - Awesome
*by C***E on April 13, 2015*

I purchased these boots because the company I work for requires steel toed and metatarsal guards. The company supplies boots but only a certain brand, Wolverine. To me wearing wolverines is like walking directly on slightly bendable concrete. They are extremely uncomfortable and I have been toughing it out wearing them since they are free. I primarily have an office job but (according to my step counter) walk about 3000-10000 steps a day in them depending on how much I need to go onto the floor. The Dr. Martens I knew would stretch. They have in the month I've had them. It seems one met guard broke in a little differently than the other. With the Wolverines it seemed it was the opposite foot this happened. Was very annoying for the first week. I wore somewhat thicker socks the first week to help with the break-in process and I did get a blister on my left heel. Partially my fault I'm sure as I didn't go with thinner socks. But something to think about. The left heel did rub in the first week and little in the second. Now no problems regardless of what socks I wear. People complain they are tight but from my experience this is how Dr. Martens are and a lot of leather boots. They stretch "a lot".They were very snug and hard to get on the first 2 weeks. Now i don't need to unlace them near as much. A little but not as much. They fit great. I don't feel the random pains in my feet/knees that I was experiencing in the Wolverines. guessing the better soles in the Dr. Martens have a lot to do with that. These will be the boots I wear from now on. Can't imagine going back.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Comfort, durability, and quality for a good price
*by F***P on December 21, 2014*

I am very happy with my purchase. Extremely comfortable and only took about 3 to 5 days to really break in. The internal met guard can be felt a bit when the boot is new, as other reviewers have mentioned. However, after the short break in period, I do not even feel the met guard. I wear the boots daily and really notice how comfortable they are as the days pass. After about 3 weeks, the boots seem to be holding up well, but time will tell if they are truly long lasting. For anyone considering using this boot for actual work, I definitely recommend buying Tuff Toe to protect the toes of the boots from wearing out. As with any steel toe boot, my boots started getting small rips and gashes on the leather toes just from normal wear. I read reviews on Amazon for the best reviewed toe protection for steel toe boots and bought Tuff Toe. Tuff Toe is definitely the best and now I have peace of mind by not having to worry about ripping my new boots. So, buy these Docs with Tuff Toe and you will be very happy. Great value, comfort, and quality for the price.
