From far away it could be mistaken for an evening gown but close up, you can tell the material is made of cotton. The material isn't very stretchy as I thought it might be. It's more like a firm but soft bed sheet? lol. Overall I got what I ordered. It's difficult to find flattering dresses when you are plus size with a tummy! This dress, however, really delivers. Snug around the arms, but flowy and loose around the middle. Just be aware, if you don't like the "Bohemian" look, you probably won't like this dress. It's perfect for around the house, but can be worn out with a dressy scarf or cardigan as well. Thanks, I love it!UPDATE: I bought the gray versions of this dress, and those are too small... not as soft and flowy as the black ones are, either. When I offered to send them back I was told that the postage would be too expensive, just keep them.
