It has a power adjustment feature that will allow the pump to work, although slowly, on cloudy days. On sunny, summer, days the power can be adjusted to pump at full capacity. I had to remove the pump after about a year in the well (it had nothing to do with the pump, I had to do some other maintenance) the pump looked great, no rust or signs of wear. For 6 months the well just sat out in a field, exposed to the elements. Eventually I dropped it back down and it went right back to work. I am very happy with this pump. I have also used a Hallmark pump.
