Update 6/17 - I caught a rat within 24 hours of setting the traps. Due to the innovative jagged teeth on the capture end of the trap, the rat, who might have escaped its doom with the typical wooden style snap trap, could not escape. I don't think most people have any idea how strong a rat can be when it wants to escape something. I loved the fact I could tie my bait ( a whole walnut that I drilled through) to the pedal, this was the cause of my success I think. My local rats are used to scavenging the walnut orchards that surround my home, and normally never have invaded my house. However I made the mistake of leaving a bag of walnuts in the shell sitting out when I went on a two month vacation. Once they got in and feasted , they started looking for other munchies of course. I also liked the screw holes which allowed me to fasten the trap to a piece of 2x6 lumber, which makes it so the rat cant go very far in its trapped condition and makes it so my hands don't have to go near the rat when I emptied the trap. I just hosed the whole thing off and left it in the sun to dry. Great design and made in the USA! The trap is good , although I felt somewhat overpriced. I was disappointed to learn that the seller lowered the price I paid by $4 only a couple of days after I received the traps. Update 6/17/19 . Want to let others know that the seller "Nexxen" refunded me $4. on the price I paid. Great customer service! Review: It Works - Update: Even though I was apprehensive about the durability of this trap it has successfully caught several huge rats. This trap is 6 1/2" x 3 1/2" and you can see in the photo how big the rat is compared to the trap. So even though it appears flimsy it does work and is still working! Original: If the metal used in this trap was any thinner it would be classified as aluminum foil. The traps were warped coming out of the box as others have noted. But easy to bend straight with your hands. On one of them the bait platform was someone stuck because the metal tang holding it had not been bent up to a 90 deg angle but that was easy to fix by bending it up with my little pinky finger. I think that if I screw the trap on to some 3/8 inch plywood to give it some rigidity then it might have some usefulness. Not sure about the durability yet but do not have high hopes. Both the tree and ground squirrels in my area are about twice the size of the average rat here, so I wouldn't count on my rat traps to capture and kill the squirrels. So far my tree squirrels have ignored the baited traps.
