I have had the strips in the hive for 5 weeks now and only 2 or 3 dead mites are found every few days. The bees are happier and more active and have been collecting from late shrubs this sunny October on the north Oregon coast. I removed honey supers before using the strips as directed. These bees are quite hygienic and have adapted to a cooler damper climate. They appear to be wild Italian hybrids that swarmed into an empty hive in June 2012. This is the first year I have used the Apistan strips or any mite defense, ever. Review: Fast and effective - I was seeing DWV on some of my bees, and within a week spotted a mite. I installed four strips (two hive bodies) on Saturday and by Wednesday was already seeing a drop in the DWV bees. I had some people tell me that Apistan is not effective and that mites are resistant to it, but apparently, no one told MY mites, because they are dropping dead! Haven't seen a mite since installing and, more importantly, my girls are acting like themselves again.
