They are a little stiffer initially than other sponges, but after 2-3 uses, they feel like any other sponge. They hold soap well, and I love the fact that don't smell sour like other sponges do. They will not scratch pans, however, they don't have quite the scrapping ability of plastic sponges. But, they still work well enough. They also seem to last as long as other sponges.
