Be aware, one of the ports will need to be used for power so, really you're just getting back the USB port from your computer that you use to supply power to the cooling pad. I like the speed control, it seems to control all of the fans equally and relatively linear from the lowest to maximum speed. At max speed, it does make an humming sound, however. I use headphones usually, so it doesn't bother me much, but when I'm not wearing the HP it's definitely there, and I think it would get annoying kinda quick. The little plastic stops to keep your laptop on it are very flimsy plastic. I had one side pop out of the little slot it mounts in, but it didn't break and I was able to put it back.
