They did not turn on the first night so I figured that they would need a whole day charge. They did not turn on the second night. I thought that they must be defective.I am the type of person that throws away the box and the screws because I knew I wouldn't need them. Welllll..not so fast.I called Amazon to initiate a return/replacement, and as always, they were very nice and understanding and sent me the return label and placed a replacement order.When I received the replacements, I figured I would look more closely at the contents of the box. As it turns out, there is a "pin" that you have to use to turn them on before putting them out in the sun. :( my bad. I should have read the directions before throwing them out.Anyway, I like them so much that I called Amazon and cancelled the return and kept both sets.
