Review: Great product - The best smoker, by far, than any other I've seen. Other smokers have trouble achieving temps above 225. Not this one. In fact, you have to be careful how you set it to keep the temp down. I use a wired thermometer to monitor the internal temp. Once i get it set, it'll keep the temp very steady. Other units often will not start your chips smoking. Not this one. The chip tray sits right on the heating coil and starts smoking within minutes. I've used another well-known brand that I had to use a torch to start the chips smoking. All-in-all, this is a great unit.
Review: As a present - It takes at least an hour to put together. My son who received this as a Christmas present reports 55 minutes and 10 just taking it all out of boxes. It's in a ton of pieces. The directions were good though. 👍 Will edit on heat retention. Edit: he has been having a blast experimenting. Especially with co workers who also smoke things. He doesn't notice any heat loss and uses multiple thermometers that would show it to some degree.
