You need a ruler foot for templates. The ring on the base is thicker/higher and it doesn't move up and down. **Q: Will this also work for vintage machines where you have to cover the feed dogs? I have a singer 99k and 127** A: On my machine I have to lower the feed dogs. If covering them up accomplishes the same thing as lowering them, this should work. **Q: Is this suitable for juki DDL8700 machine** A: No, the Juki DDL 8700 is a high shank industrial machine. Even a high shank quilting foot for a domestic sewing machine is likely not strong enough to handle the power of an industrial sewing machine. I have a DDL 8700 and I would recommend proceeding with extreme caution attempting FMQ on the 8700. It does have a gap between it and the fabric if you are only sewing a few layers of fabric and there is no way to change or adjust how close it is to your fabric.
