They are a sturdy, pliable plastic that stands up to abuse. Not flimsy brittle plastic that breaks easily. The "tower" they come with makes it easy to carry while setting up the field and the mesh bag is great for keeping them from dumping all over the inside of my bag/car. This set was by far the cheapest one I could find and also has 14 belts as well. All of the flags are pretty sturdy, they're basically vinyl material while the belts are nylon.
