It is less toxic than most colorants and does not have an unpleasant odor or burn my scalp. You do have to leave it on a bit longer and must be careful as it can stain counters/walls, etc if it spatters so apply carefully. Also, be warned that it is runs very dark. The blond is really not blond at all but brunette. I mix a darker color and a light blond color and it works well. It also lasts frankly longer than the Loreal stuff I used to us.
