Type Stainless Steel Canteen Cupvery well and I was able to use its 2 side pockets for waterproof matches and a magnesium fire starter. It is very solid construction with military surplus markings on the back of the unit. The little pockets on the side are good for holding a zippo lighter or a stick match container, The stiching and material are durable, and the tags display a US military contractor, so they meet US GI specifications. They can also hold a BPA free Nalgene canteen. But their better as dump pouches, just make sure you get new in bag, because some of the new items will be shipped used from some amazon retailers. You really dont want a canteen cover smelling like someone was running from incoming, or hugging the dirt while dragging ammo to the 50 cal. Better to have the pouch brand new without sand mites and camel spiders living inside. I purchased the Nalgene BPA Free Tritan Oasis Canteen 32 oz. for it, also from Amazon.I put a pocket knife in one of the pouches and toenail clippers in the other pouch.
