Review: Adam Savage would call this a "minimum viable tool" - Nice device. Does the job. Whenever it dies I'll probably spring for something with more bells and whistles if I ever use it enough. I've seen videos where the device isn't grounded but mine was. Must be a revision they pushed out on later builds. I bought a set of hakko compatible tips and never tried the original ones. Heats up fast and I've done a fair amount of successful micro soldering with the iron with no prior experience. Can't be all that bad right? I've only used the hot air on shrink tubing so I can't speak much about it beyond that. It does get hot quick though. A YouTuber named Louis Rossman craps all over this device in a video but he also tends to sell competing products on his own site. He's admitted to this (not apologetically - just pragmatic) in other videos so don't hate on the dude for it, but understand there is bias there and he won't deny it as a point of integrity. Easily one of my favorite youtubers.
