I’d like to use with bird feeders.** A: No they don’t. I use them for bird feeders but you have to hang the pulleys with one cord and use another to go over the wheel to move the feeder up ad down. **Q: Does the shaft run on ball bearings?** A: No it doesn't have a bearing of any kind. It has kinda like a rivet that the wheel rides on, that is made of the same material as the rest of the pulley. I would call it a pin with the ends rolled off to hold it together... sorta like a rivet but not quite that.... anyways.... It appears to be a very solid pin and I would say that it is capable of holding a lot of weight. It isn't a lightweight sorta pulley at any rate though.... Weight value of this pulley is good because of that but I have seen where someone answered that question and his answer was 77 lbs. Not sure I would trust it with that much weight for any significant amount of time..... like a few minutes with something expensive that it is supporting... LOL. I would trust it with less than half that for way longer though, even to hold 30 lbs each would be no sweat for these pulleys.
