Only let down by quality of assembly instructions

*by K***R on Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 1 May 2019*

The machine is robust and of good quality construction - it's German so what else would you expect! That said, the quality of the instructions for assembly is poor with some very bad translation to English and missing and incorrect instructions. It took me over 2 hours to assemble the machine - with better instructions it would have taken about an hour. It's not super-complicated and certainly not a reason to decide against buying this machine. So for the benefit of other buyers here are some additional notes based on my experience:1. The mixing blades supplied are different to those shown in the manual. The instructions also say to mount the mixing blades on the bottom of the drum but this is not possible because there are no mount points on the bottom of the drum. Instead the blades need to be mounted by two bolts through the side wall of the lower and upper halves of the drum. I would also recommend mounting the blades AFTER the two halves of the drum are aligned and bolted together - it makes it only a little more awkward to mount the blades but it makes joining the two drum halves a LOT easier.2. A rubber gasket is supplied to go between the two drum halves. The instructions make no mention of it and you might therefore overlook it when assembling the drum (as I did). Fitting the gasket is fiddly and what worked for me was to lay the gasket on the flange of the upper half of the drum with the holes in the gasket aligned with the bolt holes in the drum flange, then push the supplied 25mm bolts through the flange holes and the gasket holes. The gasket holes grip tight around the bolts which means they don't drop out as you naggle the drum halves into alignment for bolting together.3. The instructions say to align the drum halves by lining up two arrows printed on each half. On my machine there were no arrows printed. In this case I positioned the two halves so that the holes for bolting the mixer blades to the top half of the drum were approximately 50mm to the right of the corresponding hole for bolting the mixer blades to the bottom half of the drum. This should also mean that the holes in the flange for bolting the two halves of the drum together (with the gasket sandwiched between them) are also aligned.4. The cross-piece of the large wheel for tipping the drum has a short tubular housing for a spring which helps engage/disengage the wheel from the locking plate. The instructions say the spring is factory-installed in the housing. It isn't - it's provided separately in the same plastic bag which contains the bolt, washers and nuts for securing the wheel to its shaft. No big deal to install it but a bit of a pain if you have already bolted the tipper wheel to its shaft and have to remove it again. It's a shame the machine is let down by the quality of the assembly instructions but anybody buying a cement mixer is most likely going to be a reasonably practical kind of person who can figure out how to put it together. As always, poorly translated instructions can give rise to some mild amusement as in this instruction for operating the machine - "Put the materials carefully in the drum. Not throw them ruthlessly purely in order to avoid damage to the drum or drop the device." Wish they had been a bit more ruthless when proof-reading their translations!
