The automatic needle threader is a nice touch, and while it’s a bit on the heavier side, that just makes it feel more sturdy. No issues so far - does the job well, and I’m still happy with the purchase! Review: No home should be without one - Great machine - solid, fast, reliable. Ideal for anyone with some sewing experience - probably not quite right for an absolute novice as speed needs to be controlled by the foot pedal. Also, the instructions could possibly be a little clearer. Having had electronic machines, I have found that there is so much less to go wrong with a mechanical machine which has the advantage of straighter stitches. Probably not the prettiest of machines but you can't beat a Singer. On the minus side: My machine came all the way from Italy which took about a week and the instruction booklet was in Italian and Spanish only. It required printing over 30 pages from the Internet. The plug is 2-prong and came with an international adaptor. You will have to find out from Amazon or the supplier. **Q: What size bobbins does this machne use?** A: If you have bobbins from 30 years ago lying around, they might not work. Bobbins are nowadays normed and fit any standard sewing machine. Singer recommend that you use Singer plastic bobbins which are more expensive than unbranded plastic bobbins which do the job just as well. **Q: Is the instruction booklet in English and easy to follow** A: My instruction booklet was in Italian and Spanish only. I had to print the English version from the internet. The instructions (in English) are reasonably clear and have illustrations. Unless you are an absolute novice as far as electric sewing machines go - in which case I would not recommend this particular machine anyway - you should not have a problem. **Q: what is the voltage range? 110-240 or only 240?** A: We almost purchased our machine from an American supplier (via Amazon) as it was £20 cheaper but noticed at the last minute that this was 115v only.
