One side is cooling and the other is if you want warmth. I loved it so much I bought a spare.UPDATE....wish I could find these again. I had to save everyone else the trouble. I bought this pillow in August 2018 and by the beginning of December 2018 I could start feeling every single spring that is in the pillow as it shrunk to nothing every night. With barely 3 months of use the pillow is now trash. I seriously wasted my money on a pillow that a cheap wal mart pillow could of beat as far as quality. ### ⭐⭐⭐ No Support *by V***I on September 5, 2018* I had such high hope's. I've tried soooo many pillows. I have shoulder pain. I'm a side sleeper. I thought this unique concept would be the answer. Sadly it compresses to an almost flat pillow offering no support for head and neck and ultimately all the pressure on my shoulders. I feel doomed to living with shoulder pain. Seems like all pillows are just too skimpy. Memory foam compresses and feels like a concrete slab. I need soft but not collapsed.Update. The pillow is not for me but Amada Customer Service is great.
