It was only an LCD screen back then, so it was more difficult to read, but the functions and stim on this tiny little thing are fantastic! The new unit has a backlit display that times out to save battery, and this is a huge improvement on my old unit. If you have sore muscles and are in need of muscle stim, I would highly recommend this unit! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Reduces pain *by B***C on July 25, 2019* I liked that the battery holds a charge a very long time. I also liked to be able to choose different stimulation patterns for different areas and adjust the intensity at several different levels. I used it for radiating nerve pain from a protruding disc in my neck and lower back pain. It didn’t alleviate all pain (nothing does) but it sure helped. I don’t regret buying it. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great battery life and the stimulation actually does work! *by M***O on July 29, 2019* I was skeptical of this device, but I got snared at a trade show by a rep. He convinced me to give it a try. My wife and I have been sharing the main unit (with our own electrodes) and we both have found the pain relief is real. My wife has a sore lower back and side pain on her hips. The stimulating massage relieved both. I have found it relieves lower back pain for myself, helps my swelling/sore ankles and knees, and even relieves a sinus headache when stimulating the nerve point between your thumb and index finger. The stimulation is more intense than you can do with targeted muscle exercises or anything short of a deep, targeted massage by someone who knows how ($$$).I also was offered the foot pads with electrode points as part of a package deal and they are also highly recommended. You can actually see the muscles and tendons in your feet flex and release and the circulation seemed improved.The battery life is very good -- the rep told me 72 hours and we have not yet exhausted the first charge! The auto-timer is nice because you will find that this thing will put you to sleep. As the pain subsides and you relax, you tend to just drift off into sleep. Plan on it. Nothing is a fix-all, but this is a nice alternative to popping pills and the effects seem to be real to us. I have IBS and have been toying with the idea of using it on my abdomen as perhaps forced stimulation might relieve unwanted spasms. It does warn to not use the device near your heart or carotid, or if you have a pacemaker.The only complaint I have is that the instructions as to where exactly to place *both* electrodes are a bit unclear and the tiny colored text markers on the body diagram are hard to read. I was told by the rep that this device can use any standard EKG-compatible electrodes, so you do not have to buy any specific brand electrode.
