I used this with my son (second grade) as an introduction to the solar system, and I have to admit it was a little too advanced for him. He did enjoy the pictures a lot and the info I selected to read to him was understandable, but I did have to pick and choose. This is in no way a complaint though, as I plan to reuse this book in a few years, and that will allow me to present a great deal of new info. Overall I am incredibly pleased with this book and I plan to use it for years to come. I highly recommend it to anyone with an interest in the planets, or for a homeschool library. I like that there is a good amount of real photos versus artist renderings. Saves me from having to explain to my three year old that we haven’t actually made it to the surface of any moon but ours and that the picture is just an artist rendition. This is beautifully compiled and each planet gets a generous amount of pages devoted to it. I also LOVE how they have diagrams of the planets opened up into layers bc my son is always asking me whats inside each planet .
