## Description

Dr. Ph. Martin's Bombay India inks offer powerful color in a convenient dropper-stopper glass bottle. These highly pigmented India inks not only remain lightfast and permanent, but are also totally waterproof when dry. They adhere to nearly all surfaces and are non-clogging when used in pens. Inks can be diluted with water and used with brushes in traditional watercolor techniques or in dip pens, technical drawing pens, and airbrushes. All colors are brilliant and transparent, except black and white, which are opaque and have excellent covering power. Each set includes 12 different colors in 1. 0 oz (30 ml) glass bottles with droppers and a custom mixing palette. **Q: What is the difference difference between the Bombay ink and the hydrous watercolor?**
A: The Hydrus Watercolor can be reactivated with water after it's dry, and the Bombay Ink is waterproof. While wet, both act very similarly. Both are pigmented and do not use dyes, so neither will fade for many years, and both possess very similar transparency. Hydrus Watercolor will not clog pens because it readily dissolves in water.

**Q: Can these inks be used with dip pens for calligraphy?**
A: The Dr. PH Martin's Bombay India Inks can be ussed with dip pens for Calligraphy. They should not, however, be used in fountain pens, as it will clog them quickly, and the clean up effort is nearly impossible.

**Q: if you are a watercolorist, have you tried these, alongside more traditional wc paints? if so, how well did they perform together? (thank you)**
A: I've used these with both professional Holbein paint and student grade Winsor & Newton paint. They blend, mix and lift just the same.

**Q: How do you apply the ink?**
A: I use these inks as a permanent watercolor.  I allow the first layer to draw before the next.  All layers are very diluted.  It's a very concentrated ink and will go a long way.
