### ⭐⭐⭐⭐

This is the one to get, despite some minor issues

*by A***S on Reviewed in the United States on March 25, 2019*

This is my 2nd 3d printer, the first being a Creality CR-10S Pro (Which was sent back due to the numerous fails I had within the first 3 days). Still a rookie when it comes to printing, but this is my opinion of the Tevo Tornado:First: Installation is pretty straight forward. Be sure to get the XYZ inputs in the right way, as they all will fit in all motors and easy to have them in the wrong place.Second: Leveling on this thing is #1 pain in the a$$. The knobs are very very tiny and the screw has a tendency to actually rotate with the tightening and loosening.Third: The darn thing doesn't come with a spool holder. However in the included SD card, you can print one... but c'mon it would have cost .50cents to have one already done in the box. Of course you can always download and print a different style too.Fourth: The glass heat bed is great. Filament sticks very well to it. After my first 3 prints i went ahead and laid some tape down, (and re-level) because it's recommended by a lot of people. Haven't had a single issue with anything not sticking. (Only used PLA at the moment, but I did buy some TPU and ABS which I will try in the next few days)Fifth: The menu options, are a bit wonky. Some don't make sense on where in the menu they are placed. And every time I went to level it, the menu would go back to the first screen, causing me to go through a series of buttons again.Overall, I'm very pleased with the results, especially considering the price. MY CR-10s Pro I could never get a single print to complete, with this one I'm already on print #10, and the only fails I have encountered are due to model problems, not the printer itself.Pros: Cost. Good printer for the money Bed adhesion. Print size is huge, and quality seems to be very good so far.Negatives: - The box HAS to be place to the left of the printer, because of the short cord connecting to one of the motors. This causes the places I can have it in my office to very few spots. - The menu always goes back to the start. And if you do stop a print, you have to go through a series of buttons again to get the Z axis up and out of the way. The menu needs to be reworked. Should be able to custom edit the map, or add shortcuts. - No spool holder, and the leveling thumbscrews are WAY too small. (I printed larger screw knobs from thingiverse) - It's pretty loud. Not like, unbearable, but much louder than the CR-10s. If i step out of the room you won't hear it, but if you plan on having it going while you're working, it will definitely be noticeable.Overall, I'm pretty satisfied with the results I'm getting. For noobies like me, I've been able to figure out pretty quickly the problems on why it didn't do what I was expecting, and mostly fixable very easily every time. Kids are already making me lists of things they want, and I've even made a few things from scratch that have turned out better than I expected. I'd recommend this to anyone starting out, and I'd buy again if needed to.

    its decent

Snuck out of work early to play with my new toy. Had it assembled in about an hour. I'm mechanically inept, that's really good. The best thing was, I never had to take anything apart once I'd tightened the bolts, or at all. Printed manual was nice to see, but worthless. Videos on YouTube got me through.I got the gold trim model as I've always hated green. It arrived with the test print on a bare glass bed. No cover of any kind installed or as spare. Not a problem for me. I prefer printing on glass, but I'm not sure what I'm going to do with the glass bed with pre-drilled holes for the Tornado that comes in tomorrow.Stepped out for a bit for sustenance and resumed the fray about 10 hours ago. The printer has been going non-stop since then. Started with the test cube included with the printer. Corners lifted, but bed was too low for bare glass, so I carried on. Switched to a benchy sliced from Simplify3d so I could tweak the temps. Print bailed with a USB error about 30 layers in. No biggie, happens all the timeCarried on with a mounting bracket for my BlTouch sensor. Came out great. I'll configure it in the morning.Printing a nice filament holder from ThingiVerse right now. Had issues with the first layer, so printed the first one with a raft. Part came out perfect and the raft separated in only two pieces. The specified bearings for the part fit snugly on the first try. Any time you make a part that is designed to fit a certain fitting and it comes out on the first try is a success.A little summary:Was one split washer short on the main chassis bolts. Was going to deduct one tenth of a point for that, but if you're building a 3d printer and you don't know how to get a split washer, you should give up.Z axis wiring is way too short. The controller has to be within a couple of inches of the printer. I'll have to splice something in.Wiring harnesses have really huge green labels on them. Makes it easy to figure out which one you need to plug in next. They can also short out y-axis limit switches. Once everything is plugged in, cut all huge green labels off.Extruder mounted to the frame is bizarre to me. Works great, and didn't take long to figure out how to get filament running. Nice that the extruder case is translucent so I could see the gears. Can't wait to try out TPU.Making Money Cat's is cool, and I'll probably print some fun stuff tomorrow and get into my inventory of filament. Making things I can actually use the first day I get a printer, is great. Thanks to LoyLov I got this in two days. Thanks to Tevo. Nice box*** It's been almost a month now and just wanted to add another note. I've added a bed level sensor, but other than that, it's still stock. The printer runs at least 18 hours a day. I've never had a single jam on the hot end. Had a filament break a couple of days ago. Easy to get to the extruder and disassemble it to pull the filament.Shame the tariffs have boosted the price, but I will get another one next week.
