It makes for a much better installation. Also, make sure you have some quick clamps to lightly clamp the center section to the bumper so you can properly line up the outside edges. When you buy the lip, buy some inexpensive finishing washers and secure the outside edges with those and some bolts. NOT SELF TAPPING SCREWS. Gently tilt the lip up and away from the center section of the bumper (just enough to attach the double sided tape), then press it back down into place against the tape and use the quick clamps to hold it tight for a little while to get a secure bond. Came in a big, long box - plenty big enough for the lip, so it wasn't bent in any way when it arrived. Hardware was included, but no instructions.
