There is automatic compensation for the length of the device itself - it adds the length of the device to the total tape measure (optional). Display is in cm and inches, decimals and fractions. Handy user guide, stamped warranty. Rugged build and feel. Finishing could have been better, but I am happy to ignore that. Well done FMI Limited - fantastic product, great price. **Q: it is written no where but i assume this can also measure via infrared. what maximum length can it measure by infrared and what physically?**
A: sir it can not measure through infrared. you can measure upto 5 meters physically which will be displayed on the digital display.

**Q: What is the least count and accuracy of  freemans pro-e digital measuring tape 5 m:19 mm**
A: I ordered it but did not solve my purpose.  The measurement of this and the one my customer had from France which was calibrated did not match. Neither I got any customer service

**Q: There is no Illuminated display**
A: thats correct. there is no illuminated display.
