From the Manufacturer This single cylinder deadlock is constructed of diecast and it comes in a brass colored finish. It features a jimmy-resistant design which prohibits forced entry when attempts are made to spread the door away from the frame. This is a surface-mounted, cross-bolt locking device which can be mounted to 1-3/8 in. to 2-3/8 in. thick, wood or metal doors. This door lock includes an angled strike, a rim cylinder, 2 keys, a cylinder trim ring, fasteners, a mounting plate, instructions and a tamper-resistant shutter guard. This lock requires a 1-1/4 in. hole and uses Segal keyway. it is keyed differently, but it is also available keyed alike via special order from manufacturer. It can be installed inside or outside, on left- or right-hinged doors.

- INSTALLATION TIP - Snap-off or cut-off end sections of tailpiece as needed, if it is too long for your door. Having the tailpiece too long can negatively affect the performance of the lock. Use pliers to snap-off, a hacksaw or small disk to cut-off, and a file to remove sharp edges and burrs. Position the deadbolt mounting plate on the inside of the door with raised side facing the outside of door to ensure flush installation of inside lock assembly.

**Q: What is the diameter of the hole I need to drill in the door to mount this?**
A: the instructions indicate that you are to drill an inch and one quarter hole in the door.

**Q: Does one need to install the outside key entry component, or can it be used as an inside only night latch?**
A: Yes, instructions are provided for both configurations, inside security latch, or deadbolt style operation.  I used both configurations. Deadbolt for front door, and security latch for inside door to garage.  If using as high security use be sure to use long screws, ones included not long enough to reach internal wall studs for added strength.  Door frame itself not strong enough for high security.

**Q: Can this lock be used on either a left or a right hinged door?**
A: Yes.  I've mounted it both ways.

**Q: What the is minimum thickness of door this lock will work for?**
