## Description

OFF ROAD Unleashing your inner freak. Upper - Lightweight Support. The Trail Freak from Vivobarefoot is constructed from a 3M mesh that provides interior ventilation to keep your feet cool and breathable. This is supported by a lightweight natural fitted, laminated structured that gives a comfortable and secure 'second skin' fit. It also acts as a shielding from torsion, for stitchless lateral support while giving full flexibility and still maintaining its shape. The interior of the Trail Freak Shoe, is integrated with a Dri-lex Lining with Lycra Collar. A Lightweight, performance lining for moisture wicking effects, that transport sweat vapors away from the surface of the skin to keep you dry and comfortable with superior cushioning. Outsole - Balanced Traction The outsole for the Trail Freak is constructed from Vivobarefoot's patented puncture resistant compound, which is risen from medial to lateral, supporting the midfoot section from oncoming debris. It also incorporates 4.5mm lugs which give an unprecedented amount of traction, but still lets your feet move naturally, as nature intended. The Trail Freak is a durable and lightweight trail shoe suited for the toughest mud sections, slipperiest descents, and filthiest climbs. With 200,000 nerve endings, 33 major muscles, 28 bones, 19 ligaments; the human foot is a biomechanical masterpiece. No heel, no midsole, no arch support, no gimmicks! VIVOBAREFOOT helps encourages us to move as million years of evolution intended - barefoot. The VIVOBAREFOOT difference is in the sole. They make a series of constructions specifically designed for varying elements, terrains, and activities. Many experts believe the shoes we wear not only cast the foot in a protective form, but can also weaken our foot and leg muscles, leaving them underdeveloped and more prone to injury. And while there are many occasions where traditional footwear is essential for protection, safety, and security, it is equally important to stim

    Another great minimal shoe

*by B***S on Reviewed in the United States on November 19, 2014*

I've been looking for minimal shoes to alternate with my Merrell Bare Access and Lems Nine2Five and the blue/green Vivo barefoot Trail Freaks are perfect. All three are size 10 (43) and I find the fits true to size. The Trail Freaks are a bit narrower, but after a few days of wear, I have adequate room in the toe box for my wide feet. I wear them all day and walk 4-5 miles on pavement and I don't get sore feet. I like the simple lacing, the subdued style, and the rugged-yet-flexible sole. They are great for biking and grip pedals well. The sole is much different than the flat thin sole of other Vivobarefoot shoes, like the Ra, but they still wear like slippers and it's easy to not notice you are wearing them.Update: I also ordered the grey/red winter proof version in size 43 (10 US) and they were too tight. They feel a half size smaller than the blue/green in size 43.

Very comfortable but the sole came unglued in only about 5 months. The shoe performed well but the sole was VERY slippery when wet.

ultra light back packing shoes for minimalists

*by C***Y on Reviewed in the United States on May 4, 2015*

Alright, disclaimer: these are minimalist shoes...if you have not trained your body to wear minimalist shoes, this review is not for you.I have had these shoes since March and have been wearing them running and around work with no problems...did notice the plastic material was spider webbing at the crease, but no big deal. They are comfortable as vivo shoes are, with zero arch support (yay!). Its also nice that they are waterproof. They are just like the Neo trails as far as feel goes, except MUCH warmer.Really wanted to write something about these shoes after deciding to wear them on a backpacking trip. We walked 30 miles with 30 lb. packs (in the rain the second day)...my legs and back were shot, but my feet stayed warm and dry all weekend! These shoes were great on the trail and thru the rain, with no foot fatigue or killer arch support poking thru the whole time. I almost bought some Salomons just for packing, but I am glad I didnt. That being said, anybody that has had a set of these or the Neo trail shoes knows the weakness of this shoe is the lugs. They end up breaking off and wearing down quickly. Already seeing it happen on these. But until then, they are my go-to 3 season shoe for biking, golfing, walking to work....and now back packing. They are too warm for summer, though.
