Review: Awesome ingredient for home canners - Wonderful product, great value. You'd spend way too much trying to buy this amount of Cream of Tartar at a grocery store. I'm a home canner and always add 1-2 tablespoons of cream of tartar to my canners depending on if it is a water bath or pressure canner process. It ensures my jars come out of the canner free of hard water deposits and the canners don't have mineral buildups in them either. I'm personally convinced it is also preventing damage from pitting on my aluminum (Presto brand) pressure canner. Canners who use liquid vinegar instead often report accumulative vinegar damage. Mine doesn't quite look like brand-new but is very close to that thanks to the Cream of Tartar used in each load.
