The diamond knockout is employed when a high torque saw which uses that for a drive requires it. Otherwise, the common 5/8 arbor is used as is. **Q: Will this work on a7 inch grinder** A: Yes, this will work on a 7" grinder with 5/8" arbor max rpm 8,700. **Q: Will this cut an old hot water heater tank in half? Need to make some feed troughs.** A: From my experience, I believe that the blade that cuts metal will not handle the thick gauge steel of a hot water tank. You need to use a 7 1/4 inch circular metal cutting blade. **Q: Would this work well for cutting hardware cloth? I fear the toothed blades would catch and tear on the wires.** A: The blade is not toothed. It works something like a thin grinding wheel, cutting through the metal by abrasion rather than by ripping. It might be overkill for hardware cloth, however. It's really designed for mild steel plate, pipe, angles, channels and so forth. A large pair of pattern tin snips (not the aviation kind with angled blades) will cut through hardware cloth very easily (but there are those sharp points of wire along the cut to deal with). Seem to be a good value ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Holy Chop Saw! Or optional savings...? *by J***R on October 23, 2013* So I have a mitre saw my dad gave me with a great folding stand. It's an old, professional Black &Decker, but it has almost all metal housing, aside of the plastic motor/handle cover. The metal frame has allowed me to use a metal cutting blade, but the blade was disappointing. On to the abrasive disc... decent results. To give you an example, it cuts 1 1/2" mild tube steel at 1/8" easily in under 1 minute at a 90 degree cut. It takes a little longer for a 45, but it's okay. There's a bit of spark, but nothing concerning & the cut quality is decent! I like the 5 pack & look forward to testing it out. I tried to cut through the tube steel that had 3 extra welding beads run on the outsides for practice, but it had a lot of trouble on the 45... Very tough and I had to just stop, but it cut right through the regular tube afterwards.
