Trusted by elite athletes since 1993, it’s the go-to gel for sustained energy and recovery during training or racing. ## Description GU Original Sports Nutrition Energy Gel is the energy gel that started it all. In 1993, Dr. Bill Vaughn developed the world’s first energy gel to help his daughter perform better during ultra-marathons, and GU has been helping to propel the world’s most successful extreme athletes to success ever since. GU Energy Gel sustains all forms of athletic activity with a highly compact, portable, and calorie-dense packet that is loaded with carbohydrates that can be rapidly absorbed. Branched-chain amino acids limit muscle fiber damage and increase speed of recovery, and extra electrolytes help maintain water balance. Some flavors feature caffeine to increase concentration. While the original formula has been tweaked and evolved over the years, the end result is still the same: GU Energy Gels fuel the best endurance athletes in the world. GU Original Energy Gel comes in a wide variety of good tasting flavors. Each packet contains 450mg of Amino acids, 100 calories, and at least 21g total carbs. Alas, only 4 tastes in it, and they are many great ones. **Q: Purpose of amino acids in GU?** A: Hi, great question and thanks for asking! We have BCAA (branch chain amino acids) in just about all GU products. BCAA's refer to the three essential amino acids — leucine, valine, isoleucine. BCAA’s are metabolized in the muscle and help by preventing the breakdown of muscle tissue during and after exercise. Leucine, the most important amino acid, is critical in initiating the protein synthesis, the process through which your muscles rebuild and get stronger. So, these amino acids will help both during and after exercise! For more information and details, please see our website: www.guenergy.com Thanks! - Brian, GU Energy Labs **Q: Can anyone report on the shipping time for the Variety Pack? Estimated delivery date is the 7th. Can't believe it takes that long...** A: Hi David! The ship time would depend on where you live. We are located in Upstate New York so our ship times would vary based on your distance from the upper east coast. Although it usually doesn't, shipping to the west coast could very well take a full week. **Q: Are the "assorted flavors" the ones that are pictured? I ordered a box before from Amazon and it was different.** A: I have purchased the assorted flavors box three times, and each time it has been different. I have never received all the flavors pictured. I have always gotten some vanilla, chocolate, salted caramel, espresso, mandarin orange, strawberry banana. The number of each will vary, and the other flavors I get have also varied (e.g. sometimes I get blackberry or tri-berry, other times I don't). I have also gotten flavors that are not shown at all there. I have found that I do have a preference for some flavors, so now I order the boxes of the flavors I like. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Value for money *by C***U on 28 February 2024* Good product. received on time. ### ⭐ One of the eight packs is punctured *by R***A on 12 January 2025* One of the eight packs is punctured and rest of the seven are all sticky from outside ### ⭐⭐⭐ Not VFM *by S***H on 15 May 2021* Bad taste...chocolate blast is much better ## Frequently Bought Together - GU Energy Original Sports Nutrition Energy Gel, Vegan, Gluten-Free, Kosher, and Dairy-Free On-the-Go Energy for Any Workout, 8-Count, Salted Caramel - Honey Stinger Organic Honey Waffle Energy Stroopwafel for Exercise, Endurance and Performance Sports Nutrition for Home & Gym, Pre and Post Workout Box of 16 Waffles, 16.96 Ounce (Pack of 16) - LMNT Zero Sugar Electrolytes - Variety Pack | Drink Mix | 12-Count --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.tn/products/76596145-original-sports-nutrition-energy-gel-salted-caramel-8-count](https://www.desertcart.tn/products/76596145-original-sports-nutrition-energy-gel-salted-caramel-8-count) --- *Product available on Desertcart Tunisia* *Store origin: TN* *Last updated: 2026-10-14*
