Pieces don't wobble, have a decent weight, solid base, and are way more fun to use than regular pieces. It's also easier to differentiate between them than basic pieces which is ideal for new players. The mat is great if you're trying to learn the names of board spaces and is big enough their larger than average size doesn't cause any issues.
