I tuck it slightly under the seat cushions. The strap works well to hold the back in place, tho sometimes it gets moved a little bit (5 year old can’t always sit still when on the couch ! ). I have washed this multiple times since purchasing and it has stood up well. It is not completely waterproof but for minor spills it offers some protection. All in all I am super pleased with the quality. I did purchase the couch cover on sale but the chair cover was not.
